AYF Welcomes EU Liberia’s New Deputy Head of Mission

Monrovia, October 18, 2024 – The African Youth Fellowship-Liberia (AYF-Lib) team recently extended a warm welcome to Mr. Zoltan Szalai, the new Deputy Head of Mission of the Delegation of the European Union to Liberia. During a courtesy visit, the two parties engaged in fruitful discussions about their ongoing and future collaborations to foster youth engagement and peacebuilding in Liberia.

Moses Buwee, the Founder and Executive Director of AYF-Lib, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the European Union’s steadfast support in Liberia. He highlighted key EU-backed initiatives that have positively impacted youth across the nation, including the Youth Peace Dialogue, which promotes understanding and unity among young people, and an anti-human trafficking awareness campaign, designed to protect vulnerable communities from exploitation.

Mr. Buwee also introduced the AYF-Liberia Youth Assembly 2024, a flagship platform dedicated to empowering young Liberians to take on leadership roles and champion advocacy efforts. Additionally, he emphasized the transformative impact of the EU’s mentorship on AYF-Lib’s programs, describing it as a cornerstone of their success.

In response, Mr. Zoltan Szalai praised AYF-Liberia for its significant contributions to youth empowerment and peace promotion. He commended the organization’s commitment to addressing pressing social challenges and fostering a culture of positive change. Mr. Szalai reaffirmed the European Union’s dedication to supporting AYF-Liberia’s initiatives, pledging continued collaboration to realize their shared vision of a peaceful, empowered, and prosperous Liberia.

This meeting marked a pivotal moment in the partnership between AYF-Liberia and the European Union, setting the stage for future collaboration aimed at achieving sustainable development and peace through youth-led initiatives.
