The African Youth Fellowship Liberia (AYF) has officially launched its Digital Empowerment for Peacebuilding and Advocacy program, aimed at equipping young Liberians with critical digital skills to promote peace and lead impactful advocacy efforts. In collaboration with YMCA Liberia and with support from UNFPA, the initiative seeks to empower youth to harness technology for peacebuilding, digital content creation, and meaningful dialogue on peace-related issues.
A Commitment to Peace and Progress
Speaking at the launch, AYF Founder Moses N. Buwee reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to empowering Liberia’s youth.
“Our mission is to inspire young people to actively shape a peaceful, progressive Liberia,” Mr. Buwee said, emphasizing the program’s focus on equipping youth with tools to become leaders in their communities.
Innovative Solutions for Access and Learning
As part of the initiative, AYF plans to establish two e-libraries in the Fiamah and 12th Street communities. These libraries will provide free resources for research, collaboration, and content creation, requiring only an access code—no internet needed. The innovative approach ensures that youth from all backgrounds have opportunities to engage in digital learning and advocacy.
Partners and Supporters Celebrate Youth Empowerment
YMCA Liberia’s Madam Amanda K. Armah spoke at the event, highlighting the transformative role of technology in shaping the future.
“If you have access to technology, you have access to the world,” she said, encouraging young Liberians to embrace the opportunities provided by this program.
Mr. Adama Dempster, Secretary-General of the Civil Society Human Rights Platform of Liberia, also delivered an inspiring message, urging Liberia’s youth to take an active role in peacebuilding and advocacy.
