Ganta, Nimba County – July 11, 2024 – The African Youth Fellowship-Liberia (AYF-Lib) has launched a groundbreaking Anti-Human Trafficking Campaign to combat the growing issue of human trafficking in Liberia’s cross-border regions. Supported by the European Union Liberia and the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), this initiative aims to raise awareness, educate communities, and equip individuals with the tools to prevent and report trafficking cases effectively.

The campaign’s launch event, held at the Liberia-Guinea border in Ganta, Nimba County, attracted over 60 participants, including youth leaders, law enforcement officers, and key stakeholders. Notable attendees included EU Deputy Head of Mission Anders Arvidsson, Human Trafficking Division Director Nancy Davidson, and NOCAL Vice President Emmanuel Azango.

Key Highlights of the Launch:

  • Expert Panel Discussions: Participants explored the nature of human trafficking, strategies for prevention, and reporting mechanisms, with a focus on youth engagement.
  • Interactive Sessions: Representatives from the Liberia Immigration Service and their Guinea counterparts provided insights into cross-border collaboration.
  • Community Outreach: Informational flyers were distributed, empowering community members with actionable knowledge to identify and report trafficking cases.

During the event, stakeholders emphasized the importance of collaboration. Mr. Azango reaffirmed NOCAL’s commitment to the campaign, while Madam Davidson encouraged youth to take an active role in combating trafficking and to report concerns through the hotline 2883.
