The African Youth Fellowship – Liberia (AYF-Lib) successfully convened its Youth Assembly 2025 on June 26, 2025, in Monrovia at the European Union Liberia Delegation Compound, Mamba Point, Monrovia, bringing together over 100 participants, including youth leaders, civil society organization Leaders, government officials, and members of the international community.
The Assembly focused on youth engagement in transitional justice, peacebuilding, accountability, and national decision-making processes. It provided a unique platform for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and youth-driven recommendations on critical national issues.
The Assembly was graced by distinguished personalities, including:
- Madam Jereline Jones, Coordinator (Women on Women – Law School Association, LAGSL/UL)
- Hon. J. Bryant McGill, Deputy Minister for Youth Development
- Representatives from Action for Development International
- CVIO
- Accountability Lab
- Officials from the Ministry of Youth & Sports.
Also in attendance were:
- Excellency Ambassador Simon Tooth of the United Kingdom,
- Ambassador Zoltan Szalai, Deputy Head of Mission of the EU Delegation to Liberia,
- Mr. Alhaji Kamara of the ECOWAS Volunteers Program.
Their presence added high-level support to the event and demonstrated strong international solidarity with Liberia’s youth.

The Assembly featured thought-provoking presentations, including Mr. Adama Dempster speaking on Perspectives on Transitional Justice – The Liberian Civil War and the Establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court, Mr. Laurence Yealue, Country Director of Accountability Lab-Liberia, discussing Accountability and the Path Toward an Anti-Corruption Court, and Ambassador Elijah Paye who emphasized Strengthening Youth Participation in Peacebuilding and National Decision-Making.
Participants engaged in group discussions and presented recommendations on how youth can play a greater role in ensuring justice and sustaining peace. The event concluded with a strong call for inclusive governance, legal reforms, and deeper youth involvement in national policy-making.
The Assembly was supported by committed partners: The Gender section of the Law Students Association – LAGSL/UL, the Alliance for Peace Justice and Human Rights (APJHR), Kids Educational Engagement Project (KEEP), and Rebecca Blamo Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing.
The Youth Assembly 2025 left a lasting impression, empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence to actively participate in shaping Liberia’s future through advocacy, civic leadership, and collective action.
